• W779527681 abstract "ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to estimate genetic trend on racing time of Thoroughbred racehorses in Korea, using a total of 209,725 racing records of 9,934 racehorses collection from January, 1990 to December, 2006. Phenotypic trends for all distances were negative at a rate of 0.148, 0.137, 0.137 and 0.139 second per race year for distances of 1,000m, 1,400m less than, 1,700m more than and overall dataset, respectively. Environmental trends were similar to phenotypic ones in all distances and trends in permanent environmental and jockey effects by race year were not found. Average genetic improvements for racing time were 0.037 and 0.030 second per race year at the 1,000m and overall dataset, respectively, which is low. But Genetic trends were decreased consistently. There is need to establish the genetic improvement program for quality of racehorses.( Key words : Thoroughbred, Racehorses, Racing time, Genetic trend) . 서 론 국내 더러브렛 경주마의 생산은 1991년 󰡔경주마 자급확대 중장기 기본계획󰡕 수립 이후 자급률이 꾸준히 증가하여 2007년 현재에는 현역 경주마의 약 70% 이상을 국내산마가 차지하고 있으며, 생산기반은 현역 경주마 2,500여두와 번식마 2,000여두 그리고 육성마 2,100여두 포함하여 약 6,600여두를 보유하고 있다. 국내 경마시장은 지난 1920년 이후 근 85년간 경마가 시행되어 오면서 매출이나 시설면에서는 괄목할 만한 성장을 이루었으며, 국내산마의 생산도 소기의 목적을 달성한 반면, 경주마의 질적 향상은 이에 비하여 상당히 뒤진감이 있다. 이러한 문제점을 인식하여 2006년 농림부는 󰡔마필산업 육성대책󰡕에 따른 개량목표 고시(안)을 마련하고 경주마의 질적 개량업무를 국가적 차원의 가축개량 일환사업으로 추진함으로써 우수한 경주마를 생산하여 향후 국내산마의 국제경주 참가 및 국제경주 개최를 위한 Part 국제 경마시행국 진출을 꾀하고 있다. 그러나 이러한 목표를 달성되기 위해서는 바람직한 개량형질과 개량목표 설정이 선행되어야 한다.외국의 경우에는 경주마의 수득상금이 매우 중요한 평가형질로 보고되어 지고(Klemetsdal," @default.
