- W790743163 abstract "Before Richard Bauckham devoted a remarkable series of articles to it, the Revelation of Peter was one of the most neglected early Christian writings. It immediately becomes evident from the first words of the extant text of Akhmim 2 - 'many of them ' - that the text we have in front of us is a fragmentary one. Akhm. 2 does not use the name 'Jesus (of Nazareth)', but, instead, the title 'Lord'. Several times the Revelation of John speaks of white garments of the righteous ones (not of white bodies): for example, Rev 3:4-5 promises eschatological white garments to everyone who 'conquers'. According to Akhm. 2 the revelation of the two righteous brethren is linked with a speech of the Lord (vv. 1-3) on the eschatological appearance of 'false prophets' (v. 1) - again a text that has no parallel in the other extant witnesses of the Revelation of Peter .
