- W792645306 abstract "Electromagnetic super-high-frequency (SHF) field affects germinating seeds, growing plants and dormant seeds. The research goal was to study the effect of SHF electromagnetic field on the change of grain quality of soft spring wheat. The most important quality indices of grain such as protein and gluten content were examined. These indices are important for bread-baking industry. The objects under study were six varieties of soft spring wheat of different maturity groups. All the varieties under study were bred and released in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The difference in protein and crude gluten accumulation after SHF electromagnetic field treatment for 5 and 10 seconds is described. The variant with 5 sec exposure produced a favorable effect on the studied indices. The difference to the control indices made from 4.1% to 18.6% (protein content) and from 7.2% to 13.3% (gluten content). The variant with 10 sec exposure led to the following negative results: the indices reduced by 2.5%-13.8% and 3.7%-21.7% respectively as compared to the control variant. At the same time the “protein content” index revealed higher variability within the variety. The variability is average (Tselina 50 and Karabalykskaya 90 varieties) and high (other varieties). The intra-varietal variations the gluten content are low (the middle-late varieties as Karabalykskaya 90, Tselinnaya Yubileynaya and the early-season variety Tselina 50) and average (all other mid-season varieties)." @default.
