- W794073908 abstract "The Catalan Calos are a gypsy group that inhabits several cities of Catalonia, Pais Valenciano, the Balearic Islands, and the South of France. Their apparent normality and adaptation to their environment leads other gypsy groups to consider them more integrated in the society at large. Using the community of Mataro as a case study, this essay considers the question of matrimonial alliances. The hypotheses is that these alliances mark the presence of the Calos in the world. From the tension between the individual and the society appears a complexity in the type of matrimonial strategies that reflects cultural preferences as much as the very choices that subvert them." @default.
