It discusses about a chronological survey of the Chinese Bible from the Nestorians of the eight century to the present day. Major issues related to linguistic, conceptual, and logistical complexities are addressed through critical evaluations and reflections within the framework of historical narratives of missionary translation activities in and outside China. The chapter provides a critical overview of modern approaches to translation studies with a particular focus on verbal syntax and discourse considerations applicable to translating the Bible into Chinese. It also provides an outline of the proposed translation methodology.
