- W798761489 abstract "A life cycle cost (LCC)-based evaluation model for track components has been developed in a joint project by Austrian Federal Railways (OEBB), the Institute for Railway Engineering and Transport Economy of the University of Technology, Graz, and Voestalpine Schienen GmbH. The model is used to identify optimal fields of application and maintenance procedures for different rail profiles and steel grades under different track conditions. Details are given of the project and LCC-model. The model showed that for track sections allowing continuous welded track and with loads of 18,000 gross ton per day, 60 kg rails on concrete sleepers were preferred. In sharp curves with radii less than 250m, fish plated rails on wooden sleepers should be used. For branch lines, 54kg were proposed. In general, rails of the steel grade R260 were recommended. For radii less than 500m rails of steel grade R350HT were preferred. A table of working cycles for different steel grades is presented." @default.
