A large number of starch and lipid bodie sin the cytoplasm were also gradually degraded during grafting proces and disappeared at the grafting interface. Nucleus and plasmodesmata were not changed. Bubb le-like callus was gen-erated from all living parenchyma cells and from the callus. The tracheary elements differentiate dfrom the callus had either reticulate or pit-like thickenings in the secondar y walls with bordered pits. Secondary cell wall thickening occurred toward filing to the void parts betwen reticulatedsecondary wall. Tracheids formed in the seco ndary xylem were short with irregular wall thickness. New secondary xylem cells with swir led shapes, which developed in graft union wereoriented horizontally and obli quely to axis of the stem." @default.
