- W803036501 abstract "The preceeding report indicated that a simple and rapid titration of free acid, ferrous and ferric iron in a sulfuric acid pickling liquor was possible. Further experiment has been carried out on a rapid analysis of free acid, iron, chromium and hydrogen fluoride in Hydrofluoric-nitric acid pickling liquors. The free acid was estimated by titrimetric method as in the preceeding report by masking the iron, etc. as fluorides. The iron was estimated by Reinhardt method after driving off the hydrogen fluoride and nitric acid. The chromium was heated with perchloricacid to give off a white fume for driving off the hydrogen fluoride and nitric acid, and it and for oxidation of chromium to chromic acid was determined by an oxidation-reduction titrimetric method. This method, however, had a deffect of corrosion of glass wall by the hydrogen fluoride in the determination of iron and chromium. The corrosion was prevented by adding boric acid. Also, the hydrogen fluoride was treated with calcium chloride to precipitate it as calsium fluoride as well as the coprecipitation of hydroxides, the precipitate filtered, the excess calcium was determined by NH4 oxalate-KMnO4 method with in ±2% error. The time required for analysis was about 1520 min." @default.
