- W804536612 abstract "During the long-standing field studies, the influence of fertilizing with manure and nitrogen on the content of the soluble forms (in 1 M HCl dm -3 ) of heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Ni, Cr) in soil was assessed. Fertilizing with increasing doses of manure (0-80 t ha -1 ) caused significant but irregular changes in the content of Pb, Cd and Ni. Fertilizing with nitrogen (0-120 kg N ha -1 ) did not cause significant changes in the content of the assayed forms of metals, especially of Pb, Ni and Cr. In the vast majority of cases, no important relationships were observed between the assayed physical and chemical properties of soil and the content of soluble forms of Pb, Cd, Ni and Cr. The content of the soluble forms of trace elements in soil depends on an array of natural (3, 4, 7) and anthropogenic (1, 2, 5) factors; one of these factors is organic and mineral manures. Apart from macro- and microelements, they may sometimes contain a certain amount of other elements, including heavy metals. The content of other elements may be differentiated by the introduction of various amounts of organic or mineral fertilizers into the soil or by increased sorption in the soil fertilized with manure. The influence of these factors is higher when large doses of fertilizers are used for many years. Therefore, it is better to examine the influence of organic and mineral fertilizers on the presence of heavy metals in soil in long-term studies (1, 8). However, it has to be highlighted that the content of these elements in manure or ammonium nitrate used in our country is very low and does not cause extensive contamination of soil with these metals (6). The aim of the studies was to determine the influence of the long-standing fertilizing with manure and nitrogen (ammonium nitrate) on the content of the soluble forms of certain heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Ni, Cr) in soil." @default.
