- W80496937 abstract "ERYK ANDREAS. Study of Meat Quality and Identification Polymorphism of GH and GHR Genes in Buffalo (Bubalus bubalis). Under direction of CECE SUMANTRI, Henny NURAINI, and ACHMAD FARAJALLAH Growth hormone exert its effect on growth and metabolism by interacting with a specific receptor on the surface of the target cells. GHR has been suggested as candidate gene for traits related to meat production in Bovidae. The objective of this research was to studied meat quality and identify polymorphism of GH and GHR genes in buffalo. The 93 muscle samples from Longissimus dorsi et lumbarum from slaughter house in Pandeglang-Banten were used to study meat quality. There was a significant effect of age at slaughter on body and carcass weight in both male and female buffaloes, and fat thickness in female. A positive relationship was observed between carcass weight and fat thickness and rib eye area, and also between fat thickness and rib eye area. Increase in pH value was affected to decreased shear force Warner Bratzler and percentage of cooking loss. The 452 DNA samples buffalo from five populations in Indonesia (SiborongBorong-Medan (65 samples), Lebak-Banten (29 samples), Pandeglang-Banten (180 samples), Semarang-Central Java (75 sampel), and Mataram-West Nusa Tenggara (103 samples) were used to determined polymorphism elucidated by PCR-RFLP method. There were no polymorphism detected using PCR-RFLP. PCR-SSCP and DNA sequencing as another molecular techniques also give same result as PCR-RFLP. Therefore, GH and GHR genes can not use as molecular markers for meat quality." @default.
