- W807464530 abstract "This chapter talks about a sample letter dated in the late spring of 1470, sent by the dayyanim and leaders of the Jewish aljama of Teruel to their counterparts in Zaragoza, concerning the collection of the remaining assets of the late David Cohen who had passed away as consequence of the plague. The paper leaf containing the letter had the same quarto size as the notarial protocol within which it was contained. A third section of the letter, characterized by its apparent clarity and brevity, introduces the bearer of the letter, Hayyim Cohen, the brother of the deceased, which is entitled to collect his assets from the officials of the aljama of Zaragoza. One of the difficulties when dealing with Hebrew texts is their rather fragmentary and decontextualized nature, up to the point that they could be sole and isolated evidence concerning the issues raised. Keywords: aljama ; assets; David Cohen; Dayyanim of Zaragoza; fifteenth century letter; Hayyim Cohen; Hebrew; notarial protocol; Teruel" @default.
