- W821908041 abstract "Abstract Among large groups of thermoplastic polymers for engineering application, polyoxymethylene (POM) is considered as one of the most important and interesting macromolecular materials. POM is widely used in mechanical, automotive, electrical, and electronic industries as well as in the biomedical field. Currently, research efforts are concentrating on improving selected POM properties which can be done by using different class of nanofillers. This chapter describes different preparation methods of POM nanocomposites, including extrusion and injection molding. We present brief characteristics of POM nanocomposites with layered silicates, carbon nanotubes, POSS, inorganic salts, and oxides. Special attention is paid to the influence of nanofillers on the thermal stability, crystallization behavior, and mechanical properties of POM-based nanocomposites." @default.
