- W824303760 abstract "T E TECHNIQUE of multipoint excitation in aircraft resonance test ing offers a means for excitation of pure undamped natura l modes, b u t its application is hampered by the lack of a systematic method for determining the appropriate force distributions when the damping distribution is not known.f A method is proposed here for deriving these force distributions. I t is quite general and no assumptions as to distribution or degree of damping are involved. The method requires, initially, the recording of inphase components of displacement a t a number of points on the s t ructure for each of a number of linearly independent force distributions applied a t the undamped natura l frequency of the mode to be measured. F rom these da ta a set of linear simultaneous equations is set up, the solution of which provides the coefficients of a linear combination of the force distributions which will serve to excite the pure mode. Arithmetical solution of the equations should not be necessary, as a relaxation process can be applied directly to the physical system. The method is in essence one of systematic adjus tment of force amplitudes, the adjustment being based on a set of measured dynamical influence coefficients." @default.
