Labor relations have a huge impact on growth and the key of good policy is restraining irresponsible or unbridled wage increases. Neo-corporatism, or institutionalized wage bargaining, developed before the war and was consolidated in the 1950s and 1960s in parallel with other coordinating mechanisms that aimed at regulating the market. The system of consultation in labor relations was stimulated by the pillars, since they created a situation in which consultation and compromise were logical strategies. Works councils are an essential feature, giving voice to employees, either in the executive board or in organized consultation on firm policy and labor management. Decentralization to some extent weakened the position of the employees, but nevertheless consensus-seeking continued.
