Neo-liberalism, globalization, corporate management and the mixed economy of welfare have transformed the profession in an international perspective. Even though we have techniques and principles to liberate people from oppressed situation, but sometimes failing to apply it in pragmatic level. This conceptual study focusing on how contemporary social work deals disability management especially in the area of autism. Social impairment, abnormalities in reciprocal social interaction, and difficulties in emotional expression and recognition are considered to be the major deficits associated with autistic syndrome. Only early intervention and training can facilitate socialization of autistic children rather than medicine. This paper discussing current intervention methods prevailed in social work in the field of autism by reviewing autistic literature. Principles of human rights and social justice are fundamental to social work (IFSW, 2000). Globalization, Neo liberalism and mixed economy changed every facets of globe and triggered the process of shrinking of world into a village. Social work profession is no exception from this trend. International perspective of social work involves challenging oppression at the individual, community, regional, national and international levels, guided by a clear vision of a more equitable global society. The base of IFSW is that how extent International experiences and practices are useful to to serve or help the last persons his or her society. This means that thinks globally and acts locally because social issues are identical all around the word. Using a broad range of theories, skills and values, those enable practitioners to respond more effectively to the demands of working in fluid and constantly changing contexts.Disability in any form restricts the functional capacity, space and opportunity for the full participation in the society.Social workers use a systems perspective, acknowledging the influences of the environment on personal functioning. Contemporary social work emphasized the intervention mode that people in context. Social work can contribute decades of experience with the ecology of society and multiple systems. The disability movement can help social work enhance approaches to clients, better empower oppressed and devalued groups, and understand the needs of people with disabilities. It is a partnership that is long overdue.Although social work has pioneered efforts to encourage tile use of natural helpers in people's environments, departing from traditional reliance on professionals used in the medical model, inde pendent living proponents assert that the informal support model still breeds dependence, shifting control from formal providers to informal providers (DeJong, Batavia, &McKnew, 1992). Independent living espouses a philosophy that advocates natural support systems under the direction of the client. Whereas social work envisions professionals involving clients or patients in prescribed care or treatment plans, independent living views social workers and other professionals as consultants only. Even when individuals have severe disabilities that limit learning and decision- making capabilities, social workers and other professionals teach skills and facilitate self- management but do not assume responsibility or control over people. …" @default.
