- W831970263 abstract "The Beijiang bridge is 1058 metres long. The superstructure is framed arch, and the span arrangement is 3 x 45+8 X 70+4 x 45 on cantilevered pier. The rise to span ratio of 70 m span is 1/9, and that of 45 m span is 1/8. The bridge is the longest framed arch bridge in China at present. The total deck width is 16 metres. The loading standards are truck-20 and trailer-100, and the pedestrian live load is 350 kg per square cm. Because 70 m span arch was supported on pier cap with 4.175 m cantilever and 45 m span was supported on pier cap with 0.5 m cantilever, the distances between bridge pier centre reach 82.5 m and 49 m, respectively. The bridge was built on bored pile foundations except the piers connecting 70 m span and 45 m span all of which were built on caisson. Therefore, there were four groups of continuous arch for the whole bridge, i.e. 3 x 45 m, 4 x 70 m, 4 x 70 m, and 4 x 45 m. In this paper, the principle and method for calculation of the continuous arch are presented. The superstructure consists laterally of five pieces of precast arch, with centre to centre spacing of 3.1 m. Precast under-reinforced two-way haunched slabs were used for the floor system and cantilevered slabs overhanging the outer face of side arch on both sides of the bridge. Concrete was cast in-situ on the slabs to form a deck to interact with the precast component in taking on the loading together. The plane frame finite element method was used for calculating the internal forces in superstructure. The lateral distribution of live load was calculated by the method of continuous beam on elastic supports. In the calculation of internal forces caused by live load, the continuous arch effect was taken into consideration. In the determination of reinforcement in composite section, the calculation of the effective width of flange of the arch was discussed thoroughly. (Author/TRRL)" @default.
