- W83482912 abstract "Abstract In this paper the results of electron irradiation in thin foils of magnesium in a high voltage electron microscope are described. Elongated, non-basal perfect loops with Burgers vectors a 3 〈1120〉 are formed at room temperature. The loops are interstitial in nature. From the measurements of loop densities at various temperatures the migration energy of a self-interstitial atom in magnesium is found to be (0.029 ± 0.005)eV. The threshold energies for displacement of a magnesium atom in the 〈0001〉. 〈1010〉, and 〈1210〉 directions are ≲14, ≲11 and ≲9 eV respectively." @default.
