• W83610674 abstract "With a total of four newregional and global navigation satellite systems that havelaunched first satellites oreven started an operational service, the GNSS landscape hasexperienced major changes in recent years. As partof the Multi-GNSS Experiment (MGEX) of theInternational GNSS Service (IGS), a global network of multi-GNSS monitoring stations has beenestablished and various analysis centers have started to determineorbits of selected GNSSs on aroutine basis. As a key feature, all satellites ofthe new constellations (i.e. Galileo, BeiDou, QZSSand IRNSS) are equipped with laser ranging reflector arraysenabling high-precision two wayranging measurements. The paper illustrates the use of SLR observations collected by the ILRS forvalidation of precise and broadcast ephemerides ofthe new constellations.As an independent andunambiguous tracking system, SLR helps to gain a better understanding of thenew satellites, whichstill lack a thorough characterization of their orbit and attitude dynamics. SLR tracking is thusconsidered an essential contribution for a futureuse of the new GNSSs in space geodesy.
