- W855406511 abstract "The genus Astyanax is one of the largest and well distributed among the freshwater fishes from the Neotropical region. It’s found since south of North America until the central region of Argentina, being founded in a lot of different environments, many times, which difficulties in maintaining the gene flux, isolating populations and species. Morphological, cytogenetically and molecular data has been arise, but the taxonomy of the genus is still confuse and uncertain, reinforcing the necessity of a broad molecular systematic study. As so, we characterized part of the existent species of Astyanax with the proposal of establish the phylogenetic relationship among the groups; we utilize the mitochondrial genes Cytocromo B (CitB) and ATP synthetase 6 and 8 (ATPase6/8), completely sequenced presenting 1090 pb and 846 pb respectively. Has been analyzed 57 individuals belonging to 30 Astyanax species, being eight from Central America and 22 from South America; plus seven individuals from five genera utilized as out-groups, this for the ATPase6/8 genes. We have a small number of individuals for the CitB gene, 47 individuals belonging to 25 Astyanax species, plus six close genera, each one witch one individual. The methods of Parcimony, Distance, Likelihood and Baysiaen analyses have been conducted to infer the phylogenetic relationship among the species. We found a significant differentiation between Central and South America species, as so between costal species and the others, being those one’s basils for the all group. The high divergence found between sequences of costal species and the others (above 30%) is close to the one’s founded among different genus of Characidae, utilizing the mutation rate of 1,3%/ma for the ATPase6/8 and 0,8%/ma for CitB, we reach a value around 25 ma for the separation of costal species of the others; in this period a marine regression is taking place in the globe, what could created conditions for the union between the coastal rivers of Paraiba do Sul and Ribeira de Iguape, explaining the grouping of the typical species of those rivers, today apart, each one is in one extreme of Sao Paulo state. The value founded between the Central America species and the others species of South America is above 20%, indicating a separation of this group around 18 ma, at this time a faunistic exchange is taking place between the High Parana river and the west Amazon basin. The high divergence founded between the sequences of the two genes indicates ancients vicariants events, which successive colonization’s and speciation’s, we propose that the first differentiation that happens was of the costal species, that has been isolated because of marine transgressions that flooded part of Argentina and Brasil; in a second event of differentiation, amazonic species colonized the region of the High Parana and later, after the rise of Panama Isthmus, the Central America; happing a second colonization, more recent, of the Paraguai-Parana basins by the A. bimaculatus group at the same time of the colonization of Central America." @default.
