- W857526538 abstract "Objective To investigate the expressions of the matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and the tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-2 (TIMP-2) in the neurospongioma of human brain and their roles in the pathogenesis and the grade of gliomas. Methods Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to examine the levels of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in surgical samples from 20 patients with gliomas and 10 normal controls. Results The expression levels of MMP-2 in grade Ⅰ-Ⅱ and grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ were increased respectively. The expression leuels of TIMP-2 in these two groups increased respectively. The differences between these two indexes in two groups had statistical significance (P＜0.01). There was negative correlation in the expression of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 (P＜0.01). Meanwhile, the ratio of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 was different in each groups significantely. Conclusion The increased expression of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in human glioma tissue play an important role in evaluating the malignant degree of human glimas." @default.
