- W85867618 abstract "Fruit production needs a post-harvest pest management system to obtain equitable quality of the fruits without containing pesticide residues. Fruit flies are the main pest on fruits in Indonesia. Plant parts of papaya have been known containing insecticidal compounds such as its skin of unripe fruit and leaves. The extract of papaya fruit skin with colour break fruit to green mature stage, and papaya leaves had been tried to disinfest fruit fly (Bactrocera dorsalis) in starfruit with dipping the fruit for 10 minutes. Heating of the extract at 40oC had been done to increase effectivity of the extracts. The fruit skin extract was not effective to disinfest the fruit fly, otherwise extract of the leaves contains high feeding toxicity with LC-50 : (13,0467 + 1,1091)%. The higher the concentration of papaya leaves extract, the stroger its depressing effect on the number of adults of fruit fly and their size. The heating had not increased the effectiveness of papaya leaves extract, but it could prolong the emergence of fruit fly adults and depress their size. The treatments of the research had not changed the flavor of starfruit, but the heating even could reduce the sourness of the fruit.
