- W86448516 abstract "Publisher Summary The simplest elementary process in QED is e+e- annihilation into muon pairs. This type of process is well understood in the framework of a relativistic quantum field theory. Its observation in e+e- colliding rings makes it possible to make tests of perturbative QED at high energy. These tests would be performed within the accuracy of the measurement either of the total cross section or of the differential cross section. A process that appears in e+e- collisions is the annihilation of the fermion pair into two photons. This reaction is measured with a good accuracy. It provides stringent tests of high-energy QED because it is very little sensitive to the presence of strong and weak interactions, even at LEP energies. One of the most significant successes of QED is the theoretical prediction for the anomalous magnetic moment of the electron. The measurement of the electron anomaly has been done to the relative accuracy of 3.7 x 10-9." @default.
