• W864564227 abstract "This work deals with the concept of knowledge transfer with relation to elderly immigrants with language barriers. Using the grounded theory as both a scientific theoretical basis for empirical hypotheses and as developmental concept, different approaches to the topic are accessed with relation to given projects. Initially, the work deals with an anthropological analysis of culture and its impact on the collective and individual identities of migrants; the concept of migration is defined, the historical development of migration in Germany is outlined and the issues facing migrants currently living in Germany are discussed. The primary focus of this work is on aged migrants in Germany, thus a definition of elderly people is given in order to clarify the term elderly migrants . In order to give a greater understanding of educational mechanisms, different theories of learning are explained, focusing on learning at an older age and taking into account current concepts, for example Lifelong learning. The identity development of migrants living in Germany is then discussed in terms of acculturation. Brain research and the living conditions of elderly migrants are related to each other, considering individual stress and stress due to migration as a collective experience in the destination country. Next, case studies from psychiatric and psychotherapeutic practice are given to highlight pathological inabilities for the final stage of Learning Inability. A nationwide non-experimental survey on life satisfaction is presented to verify certain theoretical considerations and available statistical data on participation in German-language or integration courses is used to show discontinuation as well success rates. The formation and use of neurodidactics, a combination of biological and educational research, is outlined leading to a discussion on options for informal learning. Older theories of informal and formal education from Plato to Freire are also presented. The Ageing in Germany project and Information-Case are set out and explained in detail as an example of a practical possibility, taking into account those elements critical to learning for elderly migrants which have been previously identified. Finally, conclusions are drawn on future research to find ways of working with elderly immigrants living in Germany. This work adds current research approaches to the socially debated issue of integration and the field of biophysical studies on migrants.
