The first section discusses polices related directly to gender equity in recruitment, career development, and working conditions. The second section considers family-related policies, which often have a differential impact on women and men. The third set of policies discussed is designed to make possible a better integration of work and personal life for the highly committed staff of the centers. The paper also suggests ways in which centers can monitor progress in achieving gender staffing goals.
