- W86817325 abstract "Despite the very high penetration of the private sector with mobile devices, only few applications and services based on mobile technologies are used, and those are rather trivial. This article suggests an approach for the identification of alternatives for the support of processes of everyday life by launching and establishing services based on mobile applications, mobile devices, and infrastructures for mobile dispositions. Therefore a framework for the identification as well as criteria for the analysis of potential fields of application will be discussed in detail. An exemplary benchmark for a selected basic process in private everyday life visualises the suggested framework, which can be adapted for individual methodical analyses. 1. Preface and motivation Against the background of a globally increasing use of mobile devices as well as due to the progressing development of usable infrastructures for mobile and ubiquitous services, questions about an integration of such services gain in importance in business-related and in private contexts [15], [19], [4], [11]. A discrepancy between the sectors of private and business life can be observed: While in business surroundings more and more mobile services are established [9], which mostly support the creation of added value directly, the penetration of the private sector with mobile services is, despite some commercial successes and some comprehensive services, like i-mode in Japan or mobile television in Korea, limited to sales of ringing melodies, games for mobile phones and similar offers of low value in most regions [20]. Hence,, there is unquestionably a strong need to identify other promising areas in private everyday life [5]. In addition, common methods for the creation of useful and practicable services for such customer groups have to be established. Efforts towards this aim strongly correlate with current research activities and also with the blurring and convergence of the formerly separate sectors of private and business everyday life [7], [17]. For example, the discipline of information systems explicitly has dealt with the private sector for a few years now, while before only enterprise application systems had been focussed. A main objective of this article is to develop a methodical framework for the analysis of processes in settings of private everyday life. This framework will allow to assess alternatives to support these processes with mobile technologies/services. Thus it facilitates the creation of recommendations for developing, launching and establishing complex services in private settings. Since the users’ experience with complex services is very limited to almost non-existent, we refrained from performing empirical research to illustrate the consumers’ requirements, needs, and wants. Instead, we focus on the development of a methodical approach, which is based on exemplary characteristics of processes in private everyday life. These processes will be combined" @default.
