Imprinting logic argues that the founder’s social capital will persist independent of whether or not the organization takes action to capture it. Institutionalization logic argues that the organization can replicate and revise the existing structure in an effort to capture the valuable social capital. Data was collected through interviews and case studies to understand how these logics manifest themselves in 38 venture-back companies.
