- W888925042 abstract "The review analyses th syndrome of loss, defined as poor in race-horses. The main cause of the syndrome is mechanical stress acting on the spinal and pelvic skeleton as well as ligament and tendoninjuries, Poot performance - hich is a lower level of than anticipated in racehorse s should be treated as a signal fo closer observation of the animal, due to the polyetiological nature of the syndrome and the lack of constant or pathognomonic symptoms impeding proper diagnosis. The most frequent causes of poor performance are mainly injuries of sacroiliac joint, next, the lumbar and sacral vertebrae, stress fracture of the pelvic skeleton and injuries of tendons and ligaments. Poor performance may be caused by one or more factor or risk conditions which include: age, sex, season of the year, the structural and functional state of the hoot th type o f ground on wh hich the horse is trained and the intensity of training that at should be individually adapted to every horse. The most frequently occurring symptom of poor performance is varying degrees of lameness. It should be stressed that lameness may not be pathognomonic of poor performance as it is connected with different diseases that may affect the horse. In order to properly diagnosis lameness, every aspect of the clinical examination should be carefully analysed including anamnesis, and addition a methods such as radiography, nuclear scintigraphy, thermography and paramagnetic resonance should be used These additional examinations are of particular significance in order to enable a proper and differential diagnosis. The correct diagnosis is decisive for proper therapy and determines the future career or even the fate of the racehorse." @default.
