- W89965476 abstract "Using the free volume concept, an expression is derived for the ionic conductivity of macromolecular networks, irrespective of their macrostructure. The logarithm of the reduced conductivity σT/∇Tg, which is the ratio of the conductivity at a given temperature to the conductivity at the glass transition temperature, is a linear function of the well known shift factor logaT, given by the dynamic mechanical properties. Theoretically, an Arrhenius behaviour is superposed to the W.L.F. behaviour. Using polyether-polyurethane networks filled with various concentrations of sodium tetraphenyl boride, it is shown that the superposition principle applies to the storage modulus, giving approximately the same shift factor when the glass transition-temperature is used as reference temperature for polyether networks of similar crosslink density. The W.L.F. superposition for the ionic conductivity is fair with various membranes having the same salt concentration. The influence of the main parameters, temperature and salt concentration, can be accounted for by the given theoretical expression. An analysis of the literature data shows that the free volume behaviour is a general law for the ionic conductivity regardless of the macrostructure of the polymer network." @default.
