- W906006427 abstract "This chapter describes how to play an interactive QuickTime movie. One of the best things about interactive QuickTime is that it can run almost everywhere. QuickTime plays equally well on Macintosh and Windows. Even Linux and other flavors of UNIX can experience QuickTime content via software called Crossover. QuickTime comes preinstalled on all Apple machines and several big-name PC brands as well. And once it is installed, it is available as a resource to all applications running on the machine. The default playback environment for QuickTime content is the QuickTime Player application. It gets installed with the standard QuickTime installation. After installing QuickTime, double-clicking a .mov file should launch the player. Many cross-platform CD-ROM titles simply utilize QuickTime Player as the runtime environment. The most widely utilized part of the standard QuickTime playback environment is the QuickTime plug-in, which enables movies to play in all the popular Web browsers. QuickTime movies can be played in Mathematica notebooks, Excel spreadsheets, FileMaker databases, PowerPoint presentations, and Corel Draw illustrations. There are hundreds of freeware and shareware products that are able to incorporate a user's QuickTime creations." @default.
