- W90951271 abstract "ABSTRACT The implementation complexity of the conventional speech en-hancement techniques increases with high sampling rates and in-creased levels of noise. In order to address this issue, we propose ahardware friendly perceptive speech filter implemented using RLCfilters. The proposed filters when compared with the conventionalfilterbanks such as based on Mel and Bark scale show significantreduction in noise levels as measured through the distance distribu-tions. General Terms: Speech Enhancement, Automatic Speech Recognition Keywords: Filtering, RLC filters, Speech, Noise Reduction 1. INTRODUCTION Noise in the speech signal can significantly reduce the performanceof automatic speech recognition systems. Preserving the speechcontent and reducing the noise present in a recorder speech sig-nal is essential to improve the recognition performance of auto-matic speech recognition systems. In addition, the ability of imple-ment the speech enhancement techniques in a real-time hardwareis important for large-scale and high speed speech processing ap-plications. However, majority of present day approaches to noisereduction and signal enhancements are difficult to implement inhardware, due to the increase in design complexity and limitationsof semiconductor process technology. In order to address the is-sues, we present a hardware friendly perceptive speech filters im-plemented as RLC filterbank in a view to present them as a front-end for a speech enhancement system. The proposed speech enhancement system is biologically-inspiredsuch that the main part of this front-end is a bank of filters withbandwidths in log scale, that resemble the processing of sounds bythe human cochlea [8, 9, 10, 11]." @default.
