- W92329483 abstract "In recent years numerous investigations have concerned the mechanization of coke-oven plants and in particular the automatic control of coke-oven heating. Some publications, notably from the Japanese Nippon Coking firm, have referred to the use of electronic computers in the development and introduction of automatic control systems for the coking process. The present article analyzes the experimental mathematical models of battery temperature and hydraulic settings and control systems based on analog computers (AC). Analog computers can be used in investigations of the dynamics of automatic control as a means of solving three fundamental problems. The first is the selection of system parameters and the determination of automatic control system structures in the initial design stages. In this case of control, the controller and object are selected on an electronic modeling apparatus; a search is then made for the structure and parameters the control system must have in order to meet the technical requirements. The second problem consists in verifying the performance of the controller and adjusting it under laboratory conditions, on a model of the object which simulates its dynamic characteristics. The third problem is to solve the so-called inverse problems, i.e., to take a known system of differential equations,more » boundary conditions and their previously found solutions and exlore the effects of a disurbance acting upon the system while in operation. We used the ac method to investigate the first of these problems, i.e., to determine the adjustment parameters under optimum process control conditions.
