- W926713021 abstract "The Seventh Vision of Daniel purports to be the record of a supplementary revelation disclosed to the prophet Daniel by the angel Gabriel. It begins with a pronouncement that the earth will suffer woes at the end of days. Apocalyptic literature attributed to the prophet Daniel is always of historical type. The biblical book of Daniel is an apocalypse, second only to the Revelation of John in its cultural importance. An understanding of the features which is sensitive to results of recent research will enable us to properly situate the Armenian Seventh Vision of Daniel in its historical and literary contexts. The views about the nature of the Daniel apocalyptica allow us to situate the Seventh Vision of Daniel in more appropriate context. The Seventh Vision of Daniel stands as the earliest complete witness to an important late antique phenomenon that would eventually extend beyond Christianity to Judaism and Islam.
