- W947164037 abstract "Publisher Summary The instrumentation prototype electron microscope in the Electrotechnical Laboratory (ETL) was developed first by K. Kasai and S. Suzuki, and K. Kanaya joined in 1942. After World War II, the instrumentation and electron optics were pursued by K. Kanaya as the chief of electron microscope section in ETL. In 1941, the Hitachi and Shimadzu companies simultaneously started manufacturing commercial electron microscopes with the aid of the numerous constructional details given in von Ardenne's book and the fundamental theories on electron optics developed in Zworykin's book. In 1947, the Japan Electron Optics Laboratory (JEOL) began to manufacture a magnetic electron microscope; Akashi Seisakusho has also been manufacturing such instruments since 1950. One of the earliest contributions to the electron lens was that of Y. Sugiura and S. Suzuki, who introduced the idea that the unipole magnetic lens gives minimum spherical aberration." @default.
