- W952005228 abstract "The aim of this study was to compare the single-port and multiport laparoscopic methods of treatment of inguinal hernias in children of the first three months of life. Material and methods. From January 2002 to December 2012, 260 laparoscopic surgery in neonates and young infants with a diagnosis of inguinal hernia were performed. SILS surgical technology (Group I 180 patients) and multiport endoscopic herniorrhaphy (Group II 80 patients) were used. Comparison of demographic data, intraand postoperative results in two groups for patients was made. Results. In the study, the difference in the duration of the operation, the number of doses of analgesia and length of hospital stay in patients in compared groups were found. Mean operative time (duration of monoand bilateral reconstruction) in group I patients was 16 min. In contrast, in patients in Group II the average time open herniotomy was 15.72 min. Number of doses of postoperative analgesia was 1.19 and 1.22 respectively. Duration of hospital stay for patients in group I was 8.12 hours and for patients group II was 8.27 hours. In the late period of observations comparable complication rate was recorded: relapse (0:0) and hydrocele (0:1). Conclusion. We observed the same functional results in the treatment of inguinal hernias in babies of the first 3 months of life with the use of one-port and multiport laparoscopy and demonstrated scarless cosmetic results in patients of group of single-incision laparoscopic surgery." @default.
