- W9636291 abstract "In this study the interphase properties of glass fiber polypropylene model composites have been investigated using sized glass fibers with amino silane as coupling agent and varied polymer dispersions as film formers and unmodified (PP) or acidic modified polypropylene (PPM). The interphase was tested by direct melt wetting measurement and single-fiber pull-out tests. The mechanical composite properties influenced by fiber-melt interaction were tested at continuous fiber-reinforced polypropylenes. The direct fiber/melt wetting experiments provide evidence of chemical reactions together with interdiffusion effects in the interphase between sized glass fibers and the modified polypropylene matrices. It was proved that these physical and chemical interactions influence the interfacial shear strength and the macromechanical properties. Differences in the interfacial shear strength were caused by the wetting kinetics due to the different film former formulation." @default.
