The objectives of the study were, to identify the importance and clinical relevance of Anatomy. There is deficiency of anatomists in many medical colleges both for under and post graduate students. Our aim was to observe the interest of medical students in this subject as a career option . Materials and method .This was a descriptive study and was conducted by a survey from three hundred and seven students. The data was collected and analyzed by SPSS.Results. It was encouraging to see the results where 97.4 % of all students showed positive response towards the importance of anatomy as a subject although 55.4 % felt that this subject is difficult to understand and memorize. Most of the students (70.7 %) found it a clinically relevant subject which needs to be emphasized. a significant number of under and post graduate students (52.8%) were interested in anatomy as a career option.Conclusion. Medical students are convinced about the importance of anatomy. The reduced content of anatomy in the integrated system should be evaluated with the perspective of students interest in this subject and its clinical relevance. Many new private medical colleges are being established in Pakistan resulting in better job opportunities. Therefore, emphasis on anatomy curriculum will help the fresh doctors to take anatomy as career." @default.
