Communities were over taken by water.School activities were put to hold as the State Government officially announced the closure of primaiy and secondaiy schools. The tertiaiy institutions were not left out. Thus, schools were closed between 2nd October and 16th November, 2012. Banks rendered slim services between 10.00am and 2.00pm. Civil servants rendered skeletal services. Construction work and all other developmental issues were on stand still. Some major Hotels like Pakis Suits, Udeme Hotels were no longer a go area. The State became inaccessible from neighbouring States like Rivers and Delta States. Snakes and pythons took over buildings abandoned by inhabitants. Crocodiles and other reptiles took over the streets. Some adolescents, children and adults were victims of these uncompromising and dangerous animals. The period also witnessed outbreak of epidemic. On the economic side, Ajazeera Channel on its News outline on 1st November, 2012, reported that the flood affected the Nigerian Oil Production reduction by 20 percent. In other to salvage the situation, the State Government organized camps to temporarily care for these victims. Living entails series of challenges which require man to make conscious adjustment in his life (Ajala, 2012). Adjustment refers to slight change or changes in order to make-up for particular job or new condition (Esere, 2007). Adjustment can equally be seen as situation in which an individual is able to cope with pleasant and unpleasant situations within his/her environment, without having psychological behaviour disorders (Mallum, 1998; Olagunju, 1998). Thus, Adjustment refers to the social, cultural, psychological and biological processes by which individuals strive to maintain satisfactory equilibrium in the face of incessant change within themselves and their environment (Ahlstorm of Karlsson, 2000).Any difficulty or failure to adjust to life stresses and challenges can predispose an individual to experience sadness, hopelessness and apprehension (Gill, 1997; Ajala, 2012). …" @default.
