- W9846092 abstract "As is well known, the strength of porous solid coke is determined, other conditions being equal, by the rate of heating of the coal, most importantly by the rate of heating in the temperature range corresponding to the plastic state of the coke and to the conversion of the coal to semicoke. The granulometric composition and mechanical strength depend on the stress gradient in the coke, which is determined by the properties of the coal being coked and by the temperature gradient in the period of shrinkage and fissuring. We developed a method of computing the temperature field in an oven, the program including computation of L and G as defined. For analysis of the thermal regime we used the results of industrial coking with various temperature regimes. We recorded the composition and quality of the charge, the data required to compute the temperature field and the criteria L and G, and the quality of the coke. We performed a correlation analysis of the coke quality indices as a function of the thermal regime criteria. The selective correlation coefficient is in the 0.843 to 0.920 range, which permits us to state that there is a correlation between these quantities. Themore » area of application of the computed functions is limited by the narrow range of experimental conditions. The functions which were established permit comprehensive evaluation of the effect of changes in the heating temperature, moisture and density of the charge in differential computation of the listed factors. The thermal regime criteria also permit various ovens to be compared (for example, ovens with a narrow or wide chamber, industrial and laboratory ovens). An analysis of the effect of the charge properties (the value and position of the plasticity temperature range, shrinkage and fissuring temperatures) on the value of the thermal regime criteria requires additional experiments to be conducted.« less" @default.
