- W98989992 abstract "Reserve oxygen transport is defined as oxygen transport that is available for utilization but is in excess of actual tissue requirements (Shoemaker et al., 1976). A decrease in oxygen delivery (DO2) below ‘normal’ or an increase in oxygen consumption (VO2) above ‘normal’ are factors in causing the utilization of reserve oxygen transport. It is postulated that the ability to quantify the utilization of reserve oxygen transport capacity may lead to: 1)better clinical management of some critically ill patients;2)an improved understanding of the interrelationships of a variety of oxygenation and hemodynamic parameters." @default.
