Novel ini mengetengahkan perspektif lain tentang mitologi Kristiani, denganmendekonstruksi dominasi laki-laki dalam kehidupan khususnya di gereja. Dekonstruksidominasi laki-laki inilah yang menjadi tema penelitian dan pembahasan tesis ini.Rumusan masalah yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini adalah: bagaimanakah novelThe Da Vinci Code mendekonstruksi dominasi laki-laki. Pendekatan yang digunakandalam penelitian tesis ini adalah dekonstruksi dengan memanfaatkan teori strukturalismemodel A.J. Greimas sebagai landasan untuk menemukan oposisi biner bagi langkah kerjadekonstruksi, dan perspektif feminisme dekonstruksi digunakan sebagai pembacaanfeminisme atas hasil analisis dekonstruksi.Hasil analisis struktural menunjukkan adanya dua sumbu pertentangan (oposisibiner) yaitu doxa dan orthodoxa. Hasil analisis dekonstruksi dengan pembacaanperspektif feminisme dekonstruksi menunjukkan adanya dekonstruksi terhadap dominasilaki-laki yang dilakukan oleh doxa meliputi: Yesus menikah dan memiliki keturunansehingga tidak menafikkan peran Maria Magdalena yang seorang perempuan menjadimitra Yesus; pengakuan terhadap putri Yesus yang merupakan sebuah pengukuhanterhadap sosok perempuan, karena pada masa Yesus, kelahiran anak perempuan dianggapaib; Maria Magdalena bukan keturunan orang miskin melainkan keturunan bangsawan;Maria Magdalena bukan seorang pelacur melainkan perempuan suci; Yesus berpihakpada perempuan seiring ditunjuknya Maria Magdalena sebagai penggantinya untukmemimpin gereja; konsep ziarah pada makam perempuan yang dianggap tidak tabu; danproklamasi doxa “so dark the con of man” yang mengindikasikan ketidaksukaan doxapada patriarki. Novel ini juga memperkenalkan simbol-simbol yang mendekonstruksidominasi laki-laki seperti: pentacle, the vitruvian man, dan bintang david. Simbol-simbolyang digunakan tadi mengandung arti keharmonisan antara laki-laki dan perempuan.Kata kunci: doxa, orthodoxa, paradoxa, dekonstruksi, dominasi laki-lakiABSTRACTThe phenomenal novel The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown was totally thrillingpeople around the world five years ago. Since it was published, the novel has got manyreactions especially from the Christians, for it is considered to insult the Church. Thisnovel tells about the other perspective of Christian mythology by deconstructing maledomination in life especially in Church. Therefore, the deconstruction of maledomination in The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown becomes the main topic and thediscussion of this thesis.The problem formulation discussed in this thesis is: how The Da Vinci Codedeconstructs male domination. Whereas the approach used in this thesis research isdeconstruction by making use of A.J. Greimas structuralism theory as a fundament offinding binary opposition for deconstruction analysis, while deconstructive feminism isused as a reading upon the result of deconstruction analysis.The structural analysis shows that there is a binary opposition, i.e between doxa andorthodoxa. The deconstruction analysis with deconstructive feminism reading shows thatthere is deconstruction of male domination in the novel executed by doxa. Thedeconstruction includes: the marriage of Jesus Christ with Mary Magdalene whichregards Magdalene as the partner of Jesus; the acknowledgement of Jesus’ daughterwhich reputes the existence of womanhood, for the bіrth of baby girl was considered adisgrace in Jesus’ period; Mary Magdalene was not a poor family descendant but a royaldescendant; Mary Magdalene was not a prostitute but a sacred feminine; Jesus was afeminist as he commanded Mary Magdalene to carry out the Church after his death; thepilgrimage to woman’s tomb is not considered a taboo; and the proclamation of doxa “sodark the con of man” indicates doxa’s dislike to patriarchy.
