- W99391337 abstract "Over the last few decades, interdisciplinary research has been widely known because of its higher capacity for explanation. However, some difficulties arise in this kind of investigation. In this article, I analyze an important problem: polysemy of terms that look as equivalent between different issues. In particular, this study analyzes the case of “body size” term. In specific literature, two different connotations were proposed: mass a nd lon gitude. T his p olysemy phenomenon involves at least t wo different problems. One of them (a priori) is related to role of term in theory. In addition, second problem is presented (a posteriori): a possible absence of correlation between longitude and body mass. The necessity to review the use of longitude as indicator of body size to access to a successful interdisciplinary investigation is suggested in both cases. Finally, I empha size t he imp ortance of epistemological a nalysis to det ect prob lems w ith negative consequences to the scientific practice." @default.
